3 Chapman Alumni To Sing at the Metropolitan Opera Next Season Duke Kim ('15), Efraim Solis (‘11), Ben Bliss (‘08) continue to thrive in their professional careers.

Three Chapman Alumni will perform in the Metropolitan Opera’s upcoming 2025-2026 season. Duke Kim, Efraim Solis, and Ben Bliss are professional working musicians, who frequently return to campus for recitals, masterclasses, and performances, generously giving back to the community where they grew their roots. These College of Performing Arts graduates continuously show gratitude toward their teachers and support for Chapman’s Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music.
Duke Kim ‘15
Duke Kim ‘15, tenor, will debut as Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflӧte. Kim was the 2021 Grand Finals Winner of The Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition and a recent graduate of the Cafritz Young Artist Program at the Washington National Opera. He studied with Chapman University professor Patrick Goeser.

Efraim Solis ‘11
Efraim Solis (‘11) will debut in The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Mason Bates and Gene Scheer. A 2019 Chapman Alumni Honoree for Opera Performance, Solis has been praised for his “theatrical charisma and musical bravado.” He studied with Dr. Peter Atherton during his time at Chapman.

Ben Bliss ‘08
Ben Bliss will sing the role of Eric in Grounded by Tesori, as well as Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflӧte. After graduating Chapman in 2008 with a degree in Film Production and a minor in Music, Ben Bliss traveled the world, participating in the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, and won the 2013 Don Placido Domingo Zarzuela Prize at Operalia in Venice, Italy. In 2015, Chapman professor Patrick Goeser brought Bliss back to the university for a homecoming recital with Associate Professor Louise Thomas. Bliss describes his road to getting to the Metropolitan Opera as both challenging and thrilling.
